Lean-to Conservatories

  • High quality and with a sleek, elegant design, our lean-to conservatories are the perfect option for those who have height restrictions around their home.

Ideal for those who live in bungalows, or who have a space which doesn’t quite accommodate the size of a conservatory, lean-to conservatories are a great way to add some extra living space. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean-to conservatories can vary in size: a shallow pitch works well with bungalows, whereas a steep pitch is great for a terraced house.

Conservatories add light and space to a home, offering a bright space which is perfect for entertaining guests in, especially in the summertime. Our lean-to conservatories take on the purist, less is more approach - perfect for those who want something simple to let the light in.

Our lean-to conservatories are an ideal option if you want to convert some spare space into an extra room as they are used where there are adjoining walls.

The addition of an extra living space is sure to have endless benefits and uses, and if you’re a bit of a foliage fan, they’re ideal for growing plants due to the amount of sunlight they let in.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that's too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean to conservatory?

Even though a lean-to conservatory uses one of your property’s structural walls, it will still need foundations. This is to ensure that the conservatory is sturdy and stable and will last for many years. The depth of the foundations will vary depending on the type of soil that you are planning to have your conservatory installed on. Before finalising your lean-to conservatory designs, we will send a surveyor to your home who will test the soil to check what kind of groundwork and footings will be necessary to create a sturdy base for your conservatory.

What is a lean-to conservatory?

A lean-to conservatory is one of the simplest conservatory designs we offer. Often called sunrooms, this type of conservatory consists of three glass walls coming out from one of the main walls of your property, and are often smaller than a traditional conservatory. You can also choose between having a glass roof for your lean-to conservatory to capitalise on the natural light, or invest in a tiled roof, which will help insulate the space and make it into a great space in your home all year round. If you don’t have the space for a full conservatory, then a lean-to is a great alternative.

What's the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?

There are many similarities between a standard conservatory and a lean-to option. They both use large amounts of glass to increase the amount of natural light and warmth from the sun. However, a standard conservatory is normally much larger and can have more ornate detailing and pitched roofs, like our Victorian or Edwardian conservatories. A lean-to is more likely to have a gently sloping or flat roof, take up less space, and not extend far from your property’s external wall. If you’re not sure which type of conservatory would fit best with your property, then visit your closest showroom to see the difference for yourself.

Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

A lean-to conservatory is a great option for properties that have restricted outdoor space, as they can extend just a small amount away from your home while still bringing in all that natural light and warmth. If you have a bungalow or your home has restricted space under the eaves, this could make installing a standard conservatory more difficult. A lean-to conservatory can vary the pitch of its roof depending on the type of property you have – a shallow one for a low bungalow roof, or a steeper pitch for a terraced house. The classic clean lines of a lean-to conservatory also make them a great option for modern homes who want a little extra space without taking up too much of their garden.
